Nanzhao Ruins Light Hike. The guide was DD, who also led the stream trekking. That day, it was just the two of us (mother and son) and the guide, plus a dog—a relaxed and enjoyable mountain hike. My son complained that we didn't climb high enough or walk far enough, that it didn't match his physical ability. I thought to myself, this is exactly matched to my hiking ability... Unfortunately, we didn't have time to book stand-up paddleboarding during our stay in West Erhai, so we'll have to leave that for next time.

Participated in two activities on Cangshan Hiking: mushroom picking with Yanzi and Wanwan, and Nanzhao hiking with Honghong. All were excellent! You guys are amazing.

Today I took the Nanzhao Ruins hiking route with guide DD and Xuefei. We started from the beautiful Fengyangyi and saw many different insects and plants along the way. Since I brought my three-year-old son Xiaoguiyuan, DD adjusted the route for us at any time. There were easy wide paths and wild trails where plants were taller than Xiaoguiyuan, reducing difficulty while keeping it fun. DD encouraged Xiaoguiyuan the whole way and chatted with our little chatterbox, giving him a strong sense of security. Holding DD's hand made him so happy. He and Xuefei also prepared many snacks to reward Xiaoguiyuan for reaching the summit. Today's hike was relaxed and enjoyable. We chatted with DD and Xuefei like friends, no awkwardness at all. We walked an hour longer than expected, but we enjoyed the entire journey. Xiaoguiyuan said the happiest thing today was reaching the top and coming back down. I'm also very proud of him.

This is my fourth time in Dali. I must say, without Cangshan Hiking Home, I wouldn't have been able to make Dali my travel destination again and again. When I waded through the streams of Cangshan and dried my feet on the stone slabs, when it started raining the moment I stepped onto the ruins of the Nanzhao Kingdom, when I sat on Huoshan Mountain, feeling the wind and watching the sun set little by little, I thought, wow, this is truly a beautiful day.

Cangshan 5KM Light Hike Starting from Fengyangyi Village, along the Ancient Tea Horse Road, we saw Bai-style houses, passed by the legendary sutra-drying stone of Xuanzang, and watched villagers fetching spring water at Tingming Creek. Then, we turned onto a wild path up the mountain. On both sides of the trail, the grass was sometimes taller than Miaomiao, so we had to protect our faces and push through the grass. Sometimes the path was very narrow, with a weed-covered ditch on one side and a hillside on the other, making it easy to roll down the slope. The two kids were very happy, getting familiar with the guide sister and the two Shanghai sisters. They picked mugwort, eradicated Crofton weed, and learned about various ferns, flowers, and plants on the way up. At the top, we ate delicious mooncakes, pastries, and fruit, overlooking the vast Erhai Lake and the quiet Dali city. It was totally worth it! We passed the ruins of the Nanzhao Kingdom, searched for mushrooms along the way down, tasted wild golden ear (yellow fungus), and the guide chatted about various things she tried after coming to Dali. It was very interesting! Just like the words on the downhill path: "Can I meet you again in Dali?" I believe those who have been here will definitely come back!

In Dali, besides strolling through the old town and circling Erhai Lake, I recommend you take a hike on Cangshan Mountain. Use your feet and eyes to experience nature and the beauty of Dali. The entire route is leisurely, full of stunning scenery and a cheerful fluffy dog! Listen to Jason talk about Fengyangyi and the Tea Horse Road. When you're tired from hiking, go together to the market to buy fresh seasonal vegetables, sit around the stove, drink, and grill tofu... Among Jason's many identities is a restaurant owner; you can imagine the taste for yourself.

The hiking route designed by "Cangshan Hiking Home" is absolutely amazing. We saw wheat ears, an archaeological site, Erhai Lake and distant villages, as well as an ancient temple. Climbing the remaining ancient city wall, which was only about four feet wide, with a huge highway far below, I was dizzy and my legs trembled as I slowly moved. Finally, we reached a high point on the mountain, sat down to drink some tea and eat banana chips to replenish energy, chatted casually with the young guide who has been in Dali for nine years, and enjoyed the scenery with this lovely dog by my side. It's the only dog I've ever touched in over thirty years; having a dog accompany the hike really gave me a sense of security. After two and a half hours, it wasn't actually that high or far. Back in the ancient town, we had Jianyang lamb hotpot with other guides. This experience was perfect. It's been two days, and although my legs still hurt, joy continues in my heart. I look forward to going again with good friends who come to Dali next time—I've fallen in love with it.

I stayed in Dali for a week and participated in two hiking activities. Unlike typical tourist experiences, I got to deeply understand local life. The first time, I went to Huoshan Jiwo Coffee Shop. A painter from Shanghai taught local Bai elderly ladies to record their daily lives using mineral pigments. The old ladies' paintings were simple, natural, brightly colored, and full of wild vitality. Then I followed Jason to hike Huoshan and enjoy the sunset. Along the way, we saw old pear trees in bloom (their flowering period only two weeks), green plum blossoms and fruits, and a farmhouse with horses and free-range chickens. For the first time in my life, I saw a pale pink sunset with layers of gradation like an ink wash painting. The second activity was the Nanzhao Ancient City tour. In spring, Cangshan Mountain was full of vitality and blooming everywhere—a spiritual beauty beyond words. Along the way, we passed the ruins of the Nanzhao Ancient City, where an archaeological team was still surveying. Walking on the ancient city wall felt surreal. At the mountaintop, we enjoyed the panoramic view of Dali with Erhai Lake in the background, accompanied by warm black tea, fresh strawberries, and crispy sweet dates brought by Jason. After enjoying the sunset, Jason took us to his home for dinner. While we marveled at how cozy his small courtyard was, he quickly prepared a table of delicious dishes. It was truly a perfect trip.

The best itinerary I've discovered in Dali! If it weren't for the unusually hot and sunny weather this year, I would have joined the trip two more times. The Cangshan light hiking itinerary was perfectly arranged! Not tiring at all, fun throughout. During the rest stop, the guide Tailor pulled out a huge thermos from his backpack, along with some tea snacks and blueberries—we were all stunned! In the evening, back in Dali, we had mushroom chicken soup cooked by Tailor himself, along with several stir-fried dishes. He's incredibly talented! Equally skilled in both intellectual and practical tasks! Most importantly, Monroe the dog was so well-behaved that she completely charmed the children. Afterward, they begged to go hiking again, saying they'd go anywhere as long as Monroe was there. Next time I go to Dali, I will definitely join other itineraries. They are really well arranged! Absolutely worth it!

I first came across this shop by chance when I wanted to go to Dali, but it didn't work out. The next year, when I decided to go to Yunnan, an old friend recommended it to me. I took one look and realized it was the same one I had saved. I stayed in Dali for four nights, two of which were in the ancient city. One night, I went on a tea horse road hike with Jason, Yanzi, and Dangdangdang's favorite, Zhaomao. I suggest wearing long pants—it's not the usual stone path and might scratch your legs. Along the way, several kids of similar age formed an impromptu group. My child, who usually doesn't like walking, insisted on walking ahead with Zhaomao. The kids were friendly and united, picking mushrooms and sharing what they found. Jason and Yanzi were also very caring towards the children, knowledgeable and able to talk about the plants along the road as if they were counting treasures. When we climbed to the top of the mountain, we drank the cool tea and blueberry mung bean cakes that Yanzi had brought, feeling refreshed and happy. Before leaving, we were still eager for more, so we quickly arranged to pick mushrooms the next day. Even though we were exhausted by 8 p.m. and had to get up at 6 a.m., my child was so excited that he woke up on his own. The next day, although we were very tired and it looked like it might rain heavily, we still went. This time, it was Xiaojing and Yanzi. The mushrooms were much harder to find than I imagined. Fortunately, a lady had picked a basket in advance, so we got to enjoy delicious boletus and mushroom chicken soup at noon. A month later, I accidentally saw the lady, Xiaojing, and Haha in a travel show by the Pochan brothers, and my thoughts drifted back to that beautiful Dali and the simple, loving people there. I hope we can meet again.

A long-time lurker finally writes a review! I stayed in Dali for 7 days and didn't visit any scenic spots. I signed up for 3 activities at Cangshan Hiking Home: mushroom picking, light hiking, and paddleboarding. I loved them all. Mushroom picking was led by gentle Xiao Jing, accompanied by cute Haha. Paddleboarding was our family's first time—very stable and easy to master. My favorite was the light hike led by Jason. That day, only our family participated, and my child had Zha Mao all to themselves. The scenery along the way was beautiful, without crowds of tourists. After returning home, my child immediately drew a picture for Zha Mao and still talks about Zha Mao fondly. If you want a quiet, leisurely Dali travel experience without crowded attractions, I highly recommend Cangshan Hiking Home's activities!

One of the best experiences during my 7 days in Dali. 1. The route was well chosen, the scenery was beautiful, and I felt healed by nature again. Passing through Fengyangyi, we went through ruins, temples, small ridges, forests, and an unknown flower field. Along the way, we saw mushrooms, camellias, ferns, datura, eucalyptus, and all kinds of beautiful plants. 2. It rained a bit at the start of the hike, but soon after we saw a rainbow. It felt like a gentle touch from the universe. 3. Monroe (a Border Collie) and a village dog accompanied us the whole way. Monroe was super well-behaved—he would run ahead and then look back to wait for us. I especially loved watching Monroe run toward Tailor (the guide); it was like a family reunion, so heartwarming. 4. Tailor, the guide, is a sincere and calm person. He warmly took photos for us, shared tea and snacks, and told interesting stories. It felt like walking and chatting with an old friend, cherishing each encounter. Seeya!

Guide Xiao Zhao led us starting from Fengyangyi Ancient Village, up a path through the grass, past the ancient city wall of Dali Jingang City, had a picnic at the spot with the widest view, and finally arrived at the Summer Palace of Nanzhao Ruins, experiencing life in seclusion in the mountains. Adults and children chatted and laughed all the way through the hike. The downhill gravel path was a bit tough on the feet. That day happened to be the Torch Festival, so we stopped by March Street to experience the festive atmosphere. Thank you, Xiao Zhao, for giving us a ride!

As beautiful as a Japanese drama, but more real than a Japanese drama. Seven-star experience, five stars are not enough! Cangshan and Erhai are certainly beautiful. But even more beautiful is the carefully designed hiking route, and even more beautiful is Boss Honghong and her Nuomi and Harry! Boss Honghong is a Shanghai girl who bubbles with joy like a hotpot. She carries a small bamboo basket with a large pot of hot tea and a set of gongfu tea utensils, so we could enjoy Yunnan black tea while watching the sunset on the mountaintop. With the sparkling Erhai Lake in view and the clouds with golden edges over Cangshan, having such an experience makes me feel so lucky! As beautiful as a Japanese drama, but more real than a Japanese drama.

Starting from a village on the Ancient Tea Horse Road, we passed through a Nanzhao Kingdom ruins site and an ancient mountain temple along the way. The most stunning part was walking on a narrow dirt ridge at a high point, feeling like walking in the air. After descending, we went to the guide Tailor's guesthouse, where he prepared a hearty dinner for us. After the meal, the kids had a great time playing in the yard with Tailor's three Border Collies.
