This is a relatively foot-friendly route. Following the cornfield, we listened to the sound of water and walked through the forest, where moss slowly crawled along the texture of the stream rocks. In our backpack were various ferns, leaves, and flowers we collected along the way. Squatting by the stream, we spread the plants on the stone surface. The stream water broke and reassembled our reflections. The plant outlines we were rubbing onto the cloth were breathing, and every vein was nature teaching us to recognize their palm prints. Thank you to our guide, Yang Mi, a gentle young lady who explained the various plants and insects we saw along the way. Also, thanks to lovely Tiao Xiao, who accompanied us through a wonderful afternoon.

35Zhenhao and Zhamao have become the most unforgettable part of the child's trip. By the stream, Zhenhao helped the child build a bridge with stones to divert the water. Along the mountain path, Zhenhao taught the child about various plants. And the happy and excited Zhamao during off-work time was the favorite of the children on this trip.
Thank you to guide Yang Mi for leading me and the group on the hike and plant pounding, giving me the most unforgettable memories in Dali! For the first time, I measured this land with my footsteps, and the awe of looking up at Cangshan Mountain was truly unforgettable. Along the way, the guide introduced so many plants. By Baishi Creek, we experienced thunder, raindrops, and blue sky, accompanied by the fresh scent after the rain and the babbling water while doing plant pounding. Just like the plant juices soaking into the cloth bag, the kindness of the guide and companions, the strength of our handshakes, and the company of the dog Xiaoxi all formed the Dali in my heart.
I was lucky to book the plant pounding class. Teacher Xiaomi is really professional and has an eye for beauty! Along the way, we found various wild fruits, insects, and many plants rarely seen in the city. Teacher Xiaomi had us observe plant seeds, rub them to release fragrance, taste wild fruits, and more. Team leader Xiaoxi was very familiar with the route, though he liked to squeeze in and walk with the students. Throughout the trip, the teacher guided us in collecting suitable plants for pounding, and the final product was very satisfying! We took a different route downhill, and the whole experience was joyful! I gained so much! Thank you, Xiaomi and Xiaoxi, and the fellow travelers. I had an amazing day in Dali!
A very interesting experience. In the afternoon, I started hiking up the mountain with Sister Wanwan, and gradually immersed myself in the process. I learned to recognize and distinguish the various plants and trees along the way. The scenery that I usually overlook in my daily life turned out to have such rich forms and changes. During the hike, I also encountered groups doing other activities, which made me realize there are so many ways to live. I hope I can continue to unlock new lifestyles. Next time, I will definitely come back to Yunnan for a deeper experience of fun activities (T_T)
Spent a very happy afternoon with Sister Wanwan. Walking on the mountain path, I saw many scenes I had never noticed before. By the stream, my mind became calm. I got to know many plants I had never seen before. I hope to have the chance to experience Dali in different seasons again!
Followed the guide into the mountains. Along the way, they introduced various plants and fruits, and we collected leaves and small flowers. Later, by the stream, we did hand-printing with the collected materials. The sound of water and the tapping blended with nature. There was also a super cute little dog accompanying us the whole way. Highly recommend.
Absolutely perfect! The female guide was beautiful and kind! She carried blueberries, watermelon, and black tea up the mountain. Along the way, she explained various exotic plants and herbs! The hike was not tiring at all! A very worthwhile experience!
A relaxing and enjoyable hike plus handicraft session. We started from Sanyang, collecting leaves and flowers along the way, and finally by Baishixi we used the plants we picked to print patterns onto bags, making a practical handmade item for ourselves. A nice half-day break. At the end of the trip, our guide Wanwan also took everyone to pick up stones by the stream (stone lovers rejoice!). She also taught us to make cute leaf-stem bracelets. So happy! Wanwan is fantastic—very gentle and reliable. Whenever we encountered tricky sections on the climb or descent, she would lead the way and then hold our hands to help us cross one by one. So warm. When it came time for the printing, she showed incredible strength while "helping with the hammering," suddenly looking very cool, haha! The experience was great. I recommend it to friends who like light hiking, and it's also very suitable for children. Getting into nature, learning about plants, and doing some handicrafts—what could be better?
Sincere, thoughtful, lovely, and full of childlike fun — Wan Wan spent a wonderful afternoon with me and my three-year-old daughter. We didn't miss any roadside plants, insects, or wild mulberries, and the peaceful time by the stream was so relaxing.
It was an unexpectedly joyful two hours. Guide Yanzi led us to recognize many plants in the mountains, collect green leaves, flowers, and raspberries, have a picnic by Baishi Creek, and do leaf rubbing and dyeing. Even though it rained, it didn't dampen our spirits at all. Later, we returned to the small bookstore to continue the leaf rubbing, with a little dog accompanying us all the way. The child kept asking when we could come again, and I feel like we'll always cherish this afternoon.
A very happy day! Guide Wanwan took me along, explaining the characteristics of each plant while we foraged. In some tricky spots, Wanwan held my hand to help me climb up. Along the way, I saw many fascinating creatures, and the view from the mountain top was breathtaking. When we reached Baishi Creek, Wanwan brought out various fruits and snacks. I have to say, Dali's fruits are incredibly delicious—I tasted the sweetest blueberries for the first time. Thank you, Wanwan, for your thoughtfulness! After the tea break, we started doing leaf rubbing. Wanwan helped me design the pattern arrangement, and when I got tired of pounding, she even helped me pound, haha. The final piece turned out beautifully, and I've been carrying it with me every day lately. Surrounded by the lush greenery of Cangshan and listening to the babbling stream, I felt completely healed. Looking forward to joining the mushroom foraging activity in a while.
Dali has always been kind to me, including its nature. Finally arrived at Cangshan and met the guide sister Wanwan. She took me along wild paths, picking flowers and identifying plants, unhurried. We would stop to look at the shimmering leaves in the distance, bend down to touch the small spores on the back of fern leaves, and look up to wait for a gust of wind to pass through the treetops, messing up our hair. I saw the "Lego" of plants, which can be taken apart section by section and put back together; smelled the fruitless Elaeagnus, with its unique wild woody scent; the firethorn tree flowers called "Doujin" in dialect, which turn from snow white to fiery red when they bear fruit; used sour golden buckwheat to learn to weave a cool bracelet; the false sourgrass that can be made into ice jelly, hanging like little lanterns on the branches; even in late spring, a few reluctant spring flowers remained; the stink bug that mimics leaves was completely different from the "childhood shadow" in my memory. Thus, we harvested a lot along the way. By the stream, we drank freshly picked black tea, ate pink apple-textured hawthorn, sweet blueberries, and not-so-sweet green dates, while chatting about our hometowns, lives, work, and a bit of attitude. When I started hammering plants, I was still half-doubting. Watching their shapes, textures, colors, as the juice slowly seeped out and slightly bloomed, then hundreds of hammering sounds. When the tape was peeled off, I was truly stunned by the beauty. I completed a co-creation with plants, feeling fully satisfied.
The mist parted to reveal the outline of Cangshan Mountain. The moist wind woke the hillside, where fern leaves curled in tender green, like the pulse of the earth just awakening. Xiaomi accompanied us all the way with her little dog, with Cangshan as our backdrop. Along the path, there were many interesting plants, and Xiaomi kept explaining them. When we reached the stream at the foot of Cangshan, we chose flat stones to start leaf pounding, dyeing the pure colors of nature into the cotton cloth. It was especially fun. The kids were particularly happy.
Entering the mountains in spring, walking slowly. Guide Xiaomi explained everything carefully along the way, helping us rediscover the plants in our daily lives. From collecting to pounding and rubbing, we brought a piece of spring with us. Step by step, we approached nature on foot, accompanied by a lovely dog named Xiaoxi. With every step, we saw this place from a new perspective.
Our family of three, with our seven-year-old boy, chose the streamside plant rubbing activity. The guide, Yanzi, was a responsible and lovely girl. She carefully explained the various plants we encountered on the hike and even prepared raincoats, hot milk tea, fruit, and snacks for us. She also brought her cute little dog, Liangdian, to accompany us. Our son was extremely happy. It was a wonderful afternoon. Next time I come to Dali, I'll join other activities.
Yesterday, I took my whole family to join guide Xiao Jing's streamside hike and plant rubbing activity. After a short walk from the starting point, we arrived at a beautiful mountain valley with a stream. We could sit on rocks, drink tea, eat fruit, and use collected plants to rub patterns onto cloth bags. Compared to climbing small slopes and being exposed to the sun during the hike, the streamside was cool, quiet, and had natural white noise. If you bring a folding chair or don't mind hard rocks, you could probably lie there all day. Xiao Jing knows a lot about plants and explains them in an interesting way. Throughout the trip, she never encountered a plant she couldn't name—super impressive. She has a gentle personality, doesn't talk much but is very willing to chat, making the interaction pleasant. In short, this is my second day in Dali, and this activity is currently ranked first, hahaha.
A very satisfying experience. Each activity has a limit on the number of participants, and groups are kept small. We went into nature, collected flowers and plants with the guide, did plant rubbing, and chatted by the stream—it was so joyful and relaxing. The kids were especially happy and satisfied. We will definitely sign up for other activities with this group. Highly recommended!
Away from the hustle and bustle of the ancient city, the mountain stream babbled, clear and icy cold, like a natural fridge. We soaked fruits and watermelon in it, and dyed green onto cloth. Suddenly, I felt the beauty of summer.
What to do in the rainy season in Dali? It seems everyone hates Yunnan's rainy season. Before coming, I always worried about not seeing the scenery, constantly wet pant legs, and water droplets from strangers' umbrellas. Today, during an hour of collecting in the rain, stepping on muddy paths and identifying plants I'd never noticed before, I suddenly felt relieved while taking shelter in a mountain temple... On such a rainy day, the peace you gain is actually greater than usual.
Bring spring home by rubbing it onto fabric. Spending an afternoon by the Cangshan stream doing rubbing art in Dali is totally worth it! We booked the rubbing activity on the WeChat mini-program 'Cangshan Hiking Home,' which also offers many other activities you can sign up for based on your interests. That day, it was just the two of us going out, hahaha. Following Xiao Jing on the hike, we learned a lot of amazing plant knowledge, ate freshly picked wild fruits, and enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea. P.S. Zha Mao is such a lovely dog.
Energetic little Duoduo, hiking in Cangshan. Round trip took 3 hours, and he walked faster than me the whole time! With the adorable dogs Xiaoxi and Tuotuo accompanying us, there was non-stop laughter along the way. Hiking in Cangshan, collecting plants, and doing streamside leaf rubbing – this is the right way to bring kids to Dali!
This time we went on the Tuoran (leaf pounding) hike. Guide Xiaomi taught us a lot about nature, picked many beautiful leaves for us to print on bags. The mountain scenery was great, we could see Erhai Lake and a stream. There was also a rich afternoon tea. It's a fun activity for couples. The final printed bags were beautiful, and guide Xiaomi was very patient and nice. Thumbs up.
Super fun activity: forest, stream, wildflowers, leaf pounding. Xiaojing introduced us to many plants and prepared everything thoroughly. Accompanied by the sound of the stream and rustling leaves in the forest, we did our creations. It's too childish for kids, but perfect for two 30-year-olds. We'll come again next time. Highly recommended, haha.
Thank you to guide Xiaojing and the adorable Zhaomao. As someone from the north, experiencing these mountain and forest pleasures for the first time, I learned about many plants and the technique of leaf pounding. I also realized that the mountain weather, alternating between sun and rain, is just part of nature. I hope to have the chance to try more challenging activities in the future.
Thank you, Yanzi. We had a great time today and it's an unforgettable memory. Your love for nature and life deeply moved me. Thank you for taking such good care of us along the way. You worked hard, Yanzi.
Only a deep hiking tour can make me happy! And it's totally worth it! Guide Wanwan prepared delicious fruits and sesame cakes, and along the way she taught me about many plants. I also really liked the botanical rubbing effect we made. Such thoughtful route planning and guidance, I love it.
Stream hiking and botanical rubbing. This might be the meaning of experiential learning: she insisted on hiking 3km of mountain road on her own, becoming the youngest girl the coach has ever led; along the way she learned about various plants and insects; fell into a creek without crying, wearing a homemade diaper cover and grinning silly; discovered wild raspberries and bravely tasted them; learned botanical rubbing and made two eco-friendly bags; overcame mild mysophobia; shared her favorite snacks with everyone. The only downside is that I'm completely exhausted.
This time on the rubbing hike, guide Xiaomi taught us a lot about nature. He also picked many beautiful leaves for us to print on our bags. The mountain scenery was great, with views of Erhai Lake and a stream. There was also a rich afternoon tea. It's a fun activity for couples. The final printed bags turned out beautiful, and guide Xiaomi was very patient and nice. Thumbs up.
I chose the Streamside Eco-Dyeing Mini Hike. I was initially worried whether my just-turned-3-year-old could complete the hike, but the whole process went smoothly and was full of surprises. The guide was patient and gentle, carefully guiding me and my child. We played with stones by the stream and successfully made a mother-child canvas bag eco-dyeing artwork—I love it! The afternoon tea prepared was also great, with especially fragrant mung bean cakes and sweet pineapple. Looking forward to my child being a bit older to join other longer light hikes.
The best experiences in Dali are all at Hiking Home! Guide Wangwang's medium and long-distance hikes can take you deep into the quiet places of Cangshan, walking on paths covered with pine needles, overlooking Erhai Lake, and experiencing the grandeur of Cangshan. Guide Yanzi's stream rubbing and dyeing is very suitable for children. Find a flat stone, tap and knock, and a beautiful bag is finished. Highly recommend!!!
I accidentally came across their page and signed up for the rubbing and dyeing activity. Unexpectedly, I successfully avoided the holiday crowds and enjoyed the stream valley alone. I identified plants, did rubbing and dyeing, walked through the countryside fields, and even picked some bracken. The guide was responsible and gentle, exceeding expectations.
So far, I've participated in four activities: Wa Cat, botanical rubbing, flower cake making, and camping. The activities themselves are impeccable, but the most important thing is that the guides are all people who love life. Unlike pure business or tour guides, in this very restless world, their peaceful attitude is very relaxing. Listening to them talk about their past experiences is also very interesting. Guide Jingshan has a wonderful dog, and she is gentle and patient. Guides Aruna and Hechen take children stream trekking and exploring, picking up trash along the way, which subtly teaches children to protect the environment. Such activities are a special experience for both adults and children. Having been to Dali four times, I think this is the right way to open up Dali.
Most convenient cancellation and rescheduling in Dali Once booked, no date changes I participated in five study tour activities, and I think Jason's is the best! In comparison, some others are quite unprofessional. Of course, the price here is a bit higher, but I feel it's worth it. The teachers here are impeccable in both attitude and professionalism. I stayed in Dali for ten days and signed up for activities here on three of them. For the other places, I only signed up for one day each, thinking I'd try everything. But I ended up regretting it—after going around, I found I might as well have signed up for everything here. Nowadays, study tours in Dali are all the rage on Xiaohongshu, but some places that are praised as cheap and professional are actually disappointing. This place is more reliable, with a wide variety covering 80% of Dali's study tour projects. Cancellation and rescheduling are the most convenient here. Even if you join alone, there's no risk of cancellation or date changes. I'd like to thank Teacher Chunyu, the professional beekeeper; Teacher Aruna, who can do everything; Teacher Aruna's handsome camping partner; and the versatile Teacher Wanwan. Teacher Wanwan gives such a sense of security.
The guide Xiao Jing was especially sincere and lovely. Her two little assistants, Zha Mao and Ha Ha, were very dedicated—one led the way, the other brought up the rear, and they would even wait for us. Along the way, we learned about various plants, picked them, made leaf rubbings, and had a healing afternoon tea by the stream.
