After visiting Fengyu twice in a row, we were captivated by its rustic rural beauty. This is a casual countryside trip, and we hope to share the beauty of its streets, forests, fields, and ancient architecture with everyone, making it a special memory of Dali for you.
Activity Details:
- The activity requires a minimum of two participants.
- Light hiking with low intensity, suitable for adults and children aged 4 and above.
- Departure time: 10:00 AM. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes by car to reach Fengyu. Have a simple lunch in town with the guide. During the hike, the guide will prepare tea, snacks, and fruit.
- Return time: 6:00 PM.
- Lunch at a local restaurant in town featuring local stir-fried dishes (included in the activity fee).

In March, bypassing the Cangshan Mountains and driving into the Fengyu basin, on the hillside of Qifeng Village, we saw from afar the aunties bending over to harvest rapeseed. The bean trellises by the roadside were beginning to climb with vines, and rice seedlings had been planted in the paddy fields. Before us, Fengyu, deeply dependent on the land, presented its spring farming scene, a picture that repeats year after year through the seasons.
Every season we come to Fengyu, its fields are like a painting that changes with the solar terms, each season having its own dominant color and vitality.
During spring plowing, golden rapeseed fields spread out around the villages, inlaid among the green fava bean fields. Mules and horses began plowing, and the flooded rice paddies looked like mirrors from the mountaintop.
In midsummer, rice and corn grow wildly in the Fengyu basin, creating a lush green expanse.
And around the time of autumn harvest, when Xiaoqi, Yang Mi, and I first visited, the aunties and threshing machines were busy in the fields. The sky was clear blue, and my van passed through fields of yellow and green, past sheep, past bare tobacco stalks after harvesting, and past aunties busy harvesting corn.
Our first visit to Qifeng Village was last September. Around the village grew large patches of white cogongrass. Standing on the road by the field, we looked into the distance; the cogongrass swayed like layers of glowing mist in the sunset. At that moment, without any resistance, we drove toward the village.
This time, we made a point to visit the Lingjiu Temple in the village, an ancient temple built in the Ming Dynasty. After several renovations, the temple still preserves the "Stele Record of Lingjiu Temple" erected in the fourth year of Hongzhi in the Ming Dynasty, recording the history of the villagers rebuilding the temple over 700 years ago.
When we arrived, the uncles in the village were chopping firewood in the courtyard. When asked why, they said it was preparation for an upcoming dharma assembly—both a tradition and a daily routine.
Entering this place in such a way gives the illusion of arriving in a paradise, but calling it a paradise is not an exaggeration.
After lunch at a local restaurant in town, we went into the forest to visit an ancient temple complex.
On a grassland pasture halfway up the mountain, a passing cowherd pointed to the tallest tree in the distant forest, telling us there was a path leading to a mountain temple. This is an ancient temple complex in the forest, with all temple doors closed. Through narrow cracks in the doors, we could glimpse smiling Buddha statues with lowered eyes. There is a forgotten humility here, a bit desolate but very special.
It is already the master here.
Xiaoqi kept praising the couplets and inscriptions, finding them succinct in text but profound in meaning. They are hidden in various corners; when you come here, you can also look for them and try to appreciate them.
This is an accidentally discovered route, giving us the chance to leave Cangshan and visit this "paradise" composed of fields, forests, and ancient temples.
In the evening, along the winding mountain road, we crossed Cangshan back to Dali. Even the scenery along the way was enchanting.

- Over 48 hours: 100% refund
- No refund after activity starts
- Full refund for weather reasons (ask the guide to handle cancellation)
*Fair principle: Our cancellation policy is bilateral. If a confirmed booking cannot proceed (excluding weather reasons), we will compensate at the same ratio.
