I first learned about Air Garden when my good friend 147 often stayed there during visits to Dali. The owner, A-Xiang, is also an outdoor enthusiast and used to go hiking with us.
It's a refined traditional courtyard, adjacent to an old courtyard, with a new white building nearby, near March Street, very secluded. The owners, A-Wei and A-Xiang, take meticulous care of it, and it's very beautiful. I remember there's a plum tree in the courtyard; every spring, the tree is full of plum blossoms, falling like snow. The courtyard looks like a perfect picture from any angle. You can refer to the photos I downloaded from their WeChat Moments.
A-Xiang and A-Wei are very laid-back, so the guesthouse relies on recommendations from old guests, and it hasn't been listed on major platforms, operating quietly. But it seems that due to the economic situation in recent years, everyone is struggling. The guesthouse is now listed on Ctrip, and I hope more people can get to know this excellent but underrated guesthouse.
If you have certain requirements for accommodation details and the courtyard, you'll likely be satisfied.
Since Airbnb left, this guesthouse has become one of those lost in the vast sea of listings.
You can book "Air Garden" directly on Ctrip, though there are only a few reviews, they are all exceptionally positive. You can also contact A-Wei for inquiries (see WeChat above).
There are four suites in total, accommodating up to 8 guests. Children are welcome; one room can fit two adults and one child.
