At the intersection of Guangwu Road and Yuer Road. Run by a local family, simple setting, fish is freshly killed and grilled on the spot, served with plenty of vegetables. Very fragrant, even tastier with an extra portion of fish maw. You can ask for less salt (Dali locals prefer slightly salty). I really love this grilled fish – it's grilled until crispy, served at the table, with a texture that is not braised but solid. Some friends say there are better grilled fish places, but after trying, they all agree this one is the best. Whenever I occasionally invite friends to dinner, they don't need to guess which restaurant; and when they invite me, they also choose this place out of consideration (though they aren't as obsessed as I am). It's now quite popular, so call ahead 1 hour to order: 15912633200, then arrive just in time, otherwise you'll wait long on site. Park in the open parking lot of Lanlingge across the street.
For those who like Sichuan-Chongqing flavors, there's a restaurant called 'Pingdeng Road Grilled Fish' one street away, which also has a good reputation.
